Polskie LNG signs terminal expansion agreements
Polish gas transmission system operator Gaz-System SA’s wholly-owned affiliate Polskie LNG and Szczecin and ?winouj?cie Seaport Authority have signed agreements with Porr SA and TGE Gas Engineering GMBH for a 3.3-million tonnne/year (tpy) expansion of the Lech Kaczyński LNG terminal, to 8.3 million tpy. The agreements cover system design, permitting, construction, and commissioning. The companies expect to complete the expansion by end-2023.
Polskie LNG will oversee construction of a third 160,000-cu m LNG tank and second berth. Szczecin and ?winouj?cie Seaport Authority will be responsible for the hydrotechnical part of the berth, hydrotechnical infrastructure for the associated transmission pipe rack, and complete mooring infrastructure. The value of the signed agreements totals roughly PLN 1.9 billion ($480 million). The expansion will also include installation of rail transshipment capability.
On May 29, 2020, Polskie LNG and Polish-state oil and gas company PGNiG signed a gas supply agreement for volumes associated with the expansion.
Gaz-System is also developing the Baltic Pipe project, bringing gas from Norway to Poland and Denmark (completion 2022); the North-South Gas Corridor, linking LNG terminals in Poland and Croatia (2022); and Gas Interconnection Poland-Lithuania, connecting the two countries transmission systems (2021).
