US Phillips 66 expects to report Q1 net loss on winter storm
Phillips 66 expects to report a first-quarter net loss of $680m-865m because of the polar storm and the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the US-based refiner said on Monday.
The polar storm caused operating rates to fall and increased costs for utilities, maintenance and repairs, Phillips 66 said.
After taxes, maintenance and repair costs connected to the storm could total $30m-45m, the company said.
Utility costs rose because of large increases in prices for natural gas and electricity. Phillips 66 was able to offset some of these increases by selling electricity.
